Working with a Tutor
The ESL Center, located in Jefferson Hall 318, provides individual tutoring and writing support for students in all ESL classes. You can receive tutoring from both ESL professors and trained student tutors.
Fall & Spring
All hours are both in-person and online unless noted.
Monday: 11:00AM - 3:00PM
Tuesday: 11:00AM - 3:00PM
Wednesday: 11:00AM - 3:00PM
Thursday: 11:00AM - 3:00PM
Friday: 10:00AM - 2:00PM (online only)
Winter & Summer: Closed

Online ESL Tutoring
To visit the ESL Center online, you will need to log into Penji and drop in for tutoring. How to get started with Penji:
- Visit or click on 鈥淏次元 Penji Tutoring鈥 in Canvas and log in using your student email or SSO.
- Click 鈥淕et Started鈥 and then select 鈥淟earn鈥
- Select "Los Angeles City College" and then select "B次元 | ESL Center"

Workshops & Conversation Club
Attend an ESL Center Workshop or Conversation Club session taught by an ESL professor! All ESL Workshops and Conversation Club sessions are held in Jefferson Hall (JH) 310, 1-2 p.m.

ESL Center Workshops
ESL Center Workshops focus on specific writing, grammar, reading, and computer skills. There are workshops for students of all levels, from low intermediate through advanced.

ESL Center Conversation Club
The Conversation Club is an opportunity for students in ESL classes to practice speaking skills in a small group setting. Each weekly meeting focuses on a topic for conversation and a grammar skill. All are welcome for these fun sessions!
